We’re building technology that empowers over 2,000 charities to thrive. As our Engineering Lead, you’ll combine hands?on development with team leadership, guiding our platform’s growth while ensuring innovation, reliability, and impact remain at the core of everything we do.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and line-manage a small team of developers
- Stay hands-on with coding, reviews, and technical design
- Own and prioritise the product backlog (features, fixes, improvements)
- Run daily stand-ups and team meetings to keep delivery on track
- Coordinate releases and uphold quality standards
- Translate stakeholder requirements into clear user stories and tickets
- Analyse usage data and feedback to inform product decisions
- Support documentation, product walkthroughs, and feature demos
Skills & Experience We’re Looking For
- Strong technical background in fullstack development, system architecture, and modern practices (CI/CD, Agile, cloud infrastructure, APIs)
- Proven leadership and mentoring experience, managing small teams and fostering collaboration
- Product mindset — balancing technical priorities with user and business needs
- Excellent communication skills — able to explain complex concepts clearly to non?technical stakeholders and provide constructive feedback to developers
- Highly organised, proactive, and confident in owning delivery pipelines
- Analytical thinker — using data and feedback to drive continuous improvement
- Adaptable and pragmatic — thrives in a fast moving start?up environment
- Experience: 3–5 years in professional software development, with 1–2 years in a lead or senior role (Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, Engineering Lead)

Position: Software Engineering Manager - Job Type: Permanent - Salary: £60,000 to £75,000 per year
Location: Hybrid (home + office in Hove, BN3). Expected in office 1 day/week - Hours: 9am – 5:30pm, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours/week)
