Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and curious Network Engineer to take ownership of customer network environments across AWS and physical infrastructure.

This role combines significant AWS cloud networking responsibility with the remote management of physical network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, and wireless systems. You will ensure customer environments remain secure, resilient, well-documented, and aligned with best practice, delivering service excellence in line with our ISO 20000-aligned standards and B Corp values.

A key part of this position is initiative. We are looking for someone who takes pride in understanding how environments truly operate, identifying documentation gaps, and proactively improving visibility, resilience, and operational maturity.

Key Responsibilities (Network Operations)

  • Manage daily operations across AWS, on-premises, and hybrid network environments
  • Design and support AWS networking components, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, NAT gateways, security groups, NACLs, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, and VPNs
  • Configure and troubleshoot Cisco and Fortinet switches and firewalls (routing, VLANs, HA, site-to-site and client VPNs)
  • Support Extreme Networks switches and access points
  • Monitor, optimise, and improve performance across cloud and physical environments
  • Identify undocumented configurations and proactively produce accurate network diagrams and runbooks
  • Ensure high availability, resilience, and secure hybrid connectivity

Security & Compliance:

  • Implement best-practice security controls across network infrastructure
  • Collaborate with our Cyber Security team to support ISO 20000, ISO 27001, and Cyber Essentials requirements
  • Follow structured change management processes with clear impact assessments

Automation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Contribute to Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives using tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation
  • Support automation of provisioning, configuration, and monitoring
  • Continuously improve reliability, resilience, and operational consistency

Service Delivery & Collaboration:

  • Support 24/7 managed services, including participation in an on-call rota
  • Act as a senior escalation point for network-related incidents
  • Contribute to quarterly business reviews with clear technical recommendations
  • Work collaboratively with Platform, Cyber Security, EUC, and Operations teams

Network Engineer Skills & Experience:

  • Hands-on experience managing production AWS environments
  • Strong experience managing physical network infrastructure
  • Practical expertise with Cisco and Fortinet switches and firewalls
  • Experience supporting Extreme Networks equipment
  • Deep understanding of AWS networking services and hybrid connectivity
  • Infrastructure-as-Code and automation experience (Terraform, CloudFormation, Python, or Bash)
  • Monitoring experience (e.g., CloudWatch, Zabbix, DataDog)
  • Strong documentation and troubleshooting skills
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in network infrastructure

Right to work in the United Kingdom:

Desirable:

  • AWS Advanced Networking certification (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience integrating Fortinet with AWS
  • Experience within ISO 20000 / ISO 27001 service environments
  • Exposure to complex hybrid or multi-cloud architectures
  • Passion for learning and continuous improvement

Selection Process:

  • Psychometric assessment
  • Initial video interview
  • Final face-to-face interview

Benefits:

  • Company pension
  • Private medical insurance (from day one)
  • Life insurance
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Electric car scheme
  • Free flu jabs
  • Employee discounts
  • Sick pay
  • Free on-site parking

If you’re an experienced Network Engineer who thrives on ownership, documentation, and continuous improvement, and you want to make a positive impact while delivering technical excellence, we’d love to hear from you.
