We protect people, buildings and business continuity through HI-FOG® high-pressure water-mist fire suppression systems. The work is specialist, hands-on and important. For more than 40 years, our teams have developed fire protection technology used across marine, industrial, commercial, healthcare, transport, heritage and data centre sites worldwide.

We are looking for an experienced field service engineer to join our UK Service Team. You may already be a field service engineer in sprinklers, water mist, gaseous suppression, fire alarm service, hydraulic pipework or a wider mechanical and electrical setting. If you can trace faults, deal with customers on site and leave equipment working properly, this role should interest you.

Water mist experience is welcome, but it is not the only route in. The right field service engineer will bring safe working habits, sound judgement and the appetite to learn HI-FOG® properly. A field service engineer who likes specialist systems will settle into this work well.

What does the role of Field Service Engineer involve

This is a field-based role covering the UK and Ireland. Most weeks include planned service visits, reactive work, customer updates and travel inside your region. Some jobs run late. Some faults take patience. We prefer to be clear about that from the start.
As a field service engineer, you will service, maintain, fault-find and commission high-pressure water mist systems. One day may involve planned preventative maintenance on pumps and section valves. Another may mean checking detection interfaces, finding an electrical fault or restoring a system after a call-out. You will train through the UK office, then keep learning from engineers who know these systems inside out. If a job needs backup, you will know who to call and what to send them.
There is overtime, plus paid on-call work and out-of-hours call-outs. They are paid at enhanced rates.

Travel across the UK and Ireland is required, although overnight stays are kept to a minimum and used only when the job genuinely needs them. Company travel and accommodation costs are covered.

Your day-to-day work:

In this team, a field service engineer gets trust from day one, but that trust comes with care, clear notes and sound site judgement. On HI-FOG® systems, you will handle planned maintenance and reactive visits. After that, the report needs to say what you found, what you fixed and what still needs attention. Customers need practical answers, not vague notes, so communication matters here.
You will diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, repair system components and return equipment to full operating condition. You will support installation and commissioning work where needed, especially when service knowledge helps the wider project team. You will also work with high-pressure pumps, section valves, solenoid valves, detection interfaces, fire alarm links and related detection systems.
There is a paid on-call rota for customer support outside normal working hours. That suits someone who understands why response time matters in life safety systems, but also wants a company that recognises the commitment properly.

What we are looking for:

We are interested in engineers who have spent time around real equipment, real customers and real pressure. You should have strong mechanical and electrical engineering skills, experience with piping and hydraulic systems, and a good working knowledge of fire alarm systems. A background in sprinklers, water mist or gaseous suppression would fit well.
A good field service engineer stays calm under pressure, keeps paperwork up to date, and knows when another pair of eyes will help. You need a full UK driving licence. You also need to be comfortable working alone, working with a team and travelling across the UK and Ireland. Paid on-call and out-of-hours support are part of the job.

Relevant trade qualifications such as NVQ, City & Guilds, BAFSA, FIA or similar are useful. So is experience with high-pressure water mist systems, fire detection, gaseous suppression, automation, single-phase power supplies and three-phase motors. A CSCS card is helpful, and support can be provided if required.

What a typical week may look like:

A normal week may include five planned maintenance or service visits, service reports, customer updates, regional travel and on-call cover during your designated weeks. Access on site is not always tidy. Faults are not always obvious. That is why we value engineers who can think clearly and keep people informed.

We provide the kit a field service engineer needs: a dedicated company van, fuel card, mobile phone or tablet, specialist tools, testing equipment, PPE, safety equipment and extra tooling support where required.

Salary is between £45,000 and £60,000 per year, based on experience. London Living Allowance applies where relevant. You will also be enrolled into the company pension scheme, receive a dedicated van and fuel card, be paid overtime, enhanced out-of-hours rates, on-call allowance, sick pay, paid volunteering time and structured training. Progression routes are clear, including Senior Engineer, Commissioning Engineer and Technical Specialist.
