Job Description

A growing B2B organisation based in South Somerset and part of a global group. With substantial inward investment, we’re set to expand our UK operations over the coming years. We are now seeking a Finance Manager to oversee our day-to-day finance function, produce weekly and monthly reporting packs, strengthen our reporting capabilities, and play a key role within our senior management team.

Finance Manager Role

As Finance Manager, you will lead the finance function, enhance existing systems and processes, and implement improved reporting tools and dashboards, while working closely with and supporting the Finance Director. This position offers a blend of hands-on financial management and commercial involvement.

You must be confident working in a fast-paced SME environment and be able to communicate effectively across the entire organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the finance function, with particular focus on banking, invoicing, and reviewing sales and purchase ledgers.
  • Maintain balance sheet control accounts, stock accounts, stock reports, and fixed asset registers.
  • Produce accurate and timely weekly KPIs, sales forecasts, and the monthly management accounts pack.
  • Develop and implement improved financial systems, controls, and governance processes.
  • Lead and support our Finance Assistant—providing coaching, direction, and professional development while ensuring the function operates smoothly and efficiently.
  • Prepare working files for VAT submissions (UK and French) and submit UK VAT returns.
  • Prepare statutory accounts packs and act as the main contact for external auditors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and HMRC.
  • Lead ad hoc financial and commercial projects as required.

About You

You will be a fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) and eager to contribute to a fast-moving, ambitious SME. This role is ideal for someone looking to progress toward senior leadership.

You will be:

  • Hands-on and detail-focused, yet able to take a strategic view.
  • An excellent communicator, comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A supportive and motivating people manager, capable of fostering collaboration and professional growth.
  • Experienced in systems optimisation, process improvements, and strengthening financial controls.
  • Proactive, pragmatic, and solutions-oriented in your approach.
