Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to play a pivotal role within the finance function, acting as a trusted partner to the leadership team. This role is key to delivering timely, accurate financial insights that support commercial decision-making, while upholding the highest standards of financial governance and UK compliance.

You will take ownership of financial administration, drive improvements in operational efficiency, and advise on strategies to enhance profitability. As part of a dynamic, technology-driven business, you will have the opportunity to directly influence growth and help shape the company’s financial future.

Finance Controller Key Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate financial budgets, forecasts, and reforecasts; collaborate with the Assistant Accountant to improve budgeting models.
  • Establish and maintain strong financial controls, processes, and reporting timetables.
  • Lead enhancements across all financial administrative processes.
  • Manage VAT returns and oversee relevant tax matters.
  • Oversee the company’s physical and intangible assets, including patents, trademarks, equipment, and insurance policies.
  • Provide commercial advice to leadership when required.
  • Lead and manage the annual ISO audit process.
  • Prepare and deliver financial presentations to the Executive and Management teams.
  • Act as an active member of the management team, committed to supporting a fast-paced, innovation-led tech company.

Skills & Experience

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACCA required).
  • Minimum 3 years’ accounting experience, including hands-on financial management.
  • Proficient with accounting software—Xero experience required.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify inefficiencies or discrepancies.
  • Knowledge of core accounting principles; SaaS sector experience highly advantageous.
  • Confident working independently as well as collaboratively within a small, fast-moving team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable operating in a busy, technology-focused environment.
